If “function follows form” is your mantra, listen up — especially if you happen to be in Canada. LG’s curiously-named Wine has come to the land of polar bears, maple syrup, and adorable baby seals, offering very little in the way of bells or whistles (seriously, we’re talking about a 1.3-megapixel camera and Bluetooth 1.2 here) but keeping the style dial turned to 11 — and hey, at least it’s still got a QVGA main display and GPS packed in there somewhere. It’ll run you $79.95 now on a three-year contract in your choice of black or the always tasteful gold.

LG’s cover was blown late last month with the early unveiling of the KC910, but it’s hard to ignore that warm, fuzzy feeling one gets when any outfit doles out the official verbiage as confirmation. The self-proclaimed Viewty successor (formally dubbed the LG-KC910) looks mighty fine on paper, with a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera (with Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics and a Xenon flash), geotagging support, Dolby Mobile, video recording, A-GPS, 7.2Mbps HSDPA and integrated WiFi. Regrettably, LG failed to pass along the most pressing morsel of news (read: the price), but at least we know it’ll be available somewhere in the world this October.

What, you didn’t realize that LG was shipping its KF300 Wine phone in Europe and Japan today? Just open your eyes — you can probably see the screen from your current position. This easy-to-see handset, unashamedly aimed at folks 30 years or older, is being paradoxically shown off by a couple of minors (just a hunch, folks) as it makes its official debut in the aforesaid nations. Interested consumers can pick one up now in white / gold / pink (Japan) or pink / dark purple / black (Europe) for an undisclosed amount.

So our friendly local postman dropped this little gem off at our door this morning. That’s right, your eyes don’t deceive you — it’s an LG Vu of the CU920 variety, complete with Mobile TV support. We haven’t had a chance to get the TV service up and running just yet, but we wanted to throw up a few visuals for everyone to feast on. In short, the screen’s beautiful, we’re pretty happy with the touch control so far, and we’re pretty shocked at just how light this phone i

LG KF750 was just announced official-like by the non-rioting folks at Lucky Goldstar. With it, we get the official specs courtesy of, uh, Photography Blog. Why is a site for digital photogs carrying a cellphone press release, you ask? Easy, this one’s got a 5 megapixel camera with face recognition and the ability to shoot DivX video at 120fps. A member of LG’s Black Label series, the 11.8-mm slider is the thinnest 5 megapixel cameraphone on the market. Unfortunately the press release is heavy on fluff and light on specs so we can only tell you that it’ll also be sporting a touch-screen, suite of mobile Google apps, and Bluetooth when it makes its European debut sometime this year, presumably, for an unknown price. Great news, Mr. and Mrs. Tighty Pants: carrying five megapixels in your pocket is about to become a little less obvious. The latest member of LG’s storied Black Label line — other alumni being the Chocolate and the Shine — is starting to break cover, and for what the slider might lack in sheer visual distinction, it makes up in technical prowess. The as-yet-unnamed slider promises to be the thinnest 5 megapixel cameraphone in the world when it launches, featuring a reinforced glass touchscreen up front (just a little Glimmer-esque, if you ask us) and a shell constructed from carbon fiber. For any enV owners out there who managed to not splurge on a Voyager, it looks like you could end up being rewarded here something fierce. Verizon’s true enV replacement, the VX9100, has now found its way into some glamorous press shots — and while we’re sure that reaction’s going to be mixed, we’re really digging the super-simple candybar appearance when the QWERTY clamshell is in its upright and locked position. Looks like it’ll come in at least two colors to start — black and maroon — and we’re also hearing that the name “enV2″ is being tossed around in Verizon’s documentation (surprise, surprise). Careful observers will note that the phone is sporting a USB port (either mini or micro, we’re not sure) on the side, a promising sign that we’ll finally be able to ditch those custom LG chargers in the not-too-distant future. Virgin Mobiles slowly (and we do mean slowly) moving into the 21st century with its ultra-cheap prepaid offerings; in the past they’ve frequently foregone features most of us consider standard like Bluetooth and external displays in an effort to keep the sticker shock to a minimum, but thanks to the wonders of modern technology, Virgin’s getting close to being able to offer a circa-2008 feature set in 2008. Here we have the Flare courtesy of LG, a glossy lil’ flip that serves up a color screen out front, Bluetooth, speakerphone, and mobile web access for a penny shy of $30 — contract-free. The FCC filing (it’s the LX175) reveals a lack of EV-DO, but seriously, what do you expect for the price?

Nah, LGs latest sales triumph can’t hold a candle to the ones held by Motorola and Nokia, but still, moving 15 million of anything is something to be celebrated. Reportedly, the firm broke the aforementioned barrier this month, and it’s said to be the first Korean-based handset maker to sell that many units globally. Granted, the Chocolate’s allure has been slowly fading with the introduction of newer, flashier and potentially more delicious offerings, but there ain’t no shame in partying down for hitting such a milestone.

Announced in August, LG’s HSDPA-totin’ touchscreen KS20 was just released for retail in Europe — France and Germany to be specific with more countries coming on the quick. Nothing new to report, same business minded, 12.8-mm thick Windows Mobile 6 handset with 3.6Mbps data, WiFi, Bluetooth, 2 megapixel camera (VGA up front), up to 4-hours talk, and built-in stylus for navigating with precision on that busy, 240 x 320 pixel, 2.8-inch WinMo interface. No prices given but we’re sure your carrier will happily oblige.

Its out. LG’s newest heartthrob — the KU990 — is official and on the way to the UK (likely with Vodafone) this fall. The German IFA show at the end of the month will mark its coming out party seeing the KU990 dressed up in a 5.1 megapixel shooter with Schneider-Kreuznach lens, image stabilization (likely digital), auto focus, 120fps video, and ISO 800 sensitivity. Sure, the camera is nice and all, but this pup is packing a 3-inch, 240 x 400 touchscreen riding on 3G HSDPA data. Hoozah! With a European launch imminent (Sorry, no Stateside details), the wait for the iPhone is suddenly less of a burden, eh?

Pardon the pun — it can’t be helped. Virgin Mobile is known for keeping its handsets on the lower end, owing largely to the fact that the MVNO does the lion’s share of its business with prepaid accounts (read: contract-free phones). In fact, two of its existing clamshells lack an external display — a nearly standard feature on all but the most inexpensive flips — so it comes as no surprise that the newly-introduced LG Aloha is in the same vein. Features include a color display, speakerphone, and support for up to 199 contacts, but that’s about it — if you need a camera or Bluetooth, look elsewhere. Grab it starting in September for $34.99.
